Yoanky Báez Albornoz, sentenced to 14 years in prison for participating in the July 11, 2021 demonstrations, is incarcerated at the Combinado del Este prison in Havana. There, he faces systematic harassment from prison authorities.
In protest against his unjust detention, Yoanky has taken measures such as refusing prison food and abstaining from participating in the headcounts. Furthermore, last October, he initiated a hunger strike to report the abuses she faces.
During his imprisonment, he has suffered physical assaults, Constant harassment and restrictions on his communications, such as the denial of phone calls. One of his main harassers is Captain Luis Arango Pestana, head of building 2 of the prison, known for harassing political prisoners. This pattern of abuse has been documented previously in other cases, such as that of Yasser Rivero Boni.

Harassment of people imprisoned for political reasons is a systematic practice used by Cuban State Security. These actions aim to punish and silence those who denounce the inhumane conditions within the country's prisons.
