Ángel Serrano Hernández was sentenced to 14 years in prison for his participation in the anti-government protests of the days July 11 and 12, 2021 in La Güinera, one of the epicenters of the demonstrations that took place in Havana.
His case is part of the hundreds of people imprisoned for participating in the 11J protests, in processes that human rights organizations have questioned for the lack of judicial guarantees and for the severe sentences imposed.
The assault, isolation, and subsequent transfer of Serrano constitute additional reasons for concern regarding his conditions of confinement and respect for his physical and personal integrity.
Cubalex demands that prison authorities guarantee the physical integrity of Ángel Serrano Hernández, allow his family to know his state of health and clarify the circumstances in which he was allegedly beaten.
