Under militarized police presence, 11J protesters are prosecuted in Artemisa

On November 22 and 23, trials are underway for 13 protesters from the July 11 events at the Artemisa Provincial Court. According to reports, the entire area surrounding the courthouse is heavily militarized. Police, Red Berets, Black Berets, and State Security have organized a large-scale surveillance operation. Meanwhile, the court, in violation of national legislation and international standards, has restricted public access and is only allowing one family member per defendant.

The families are devastated and feel discriminated against. They are alarmed and concerned by the lack of media coverage these cases are receiving. We ask Cuban civil society, the independent press, those who have to conduct business at the courthouse today, and all those who can share information in any way, for your support in raising awareness of the protesters' situation and sensitizing the international community. Let's stand with the families of the peaceful protesters of July 11th during these difficult times. Let's not leave them alone; they need us now. Share the situation on your social networks. If you have neighbors near the courthouse, ask them to share information about what they observe, as well as any photos..

Justice 11 and Cubalex condemn and demand the immediate and complete dismissal of all cases currently before the Prosecutor's Office, as well as those already presented by the Prosecutor's Office to the court without a trial having taken place. We call upon human rights organizations and those protecting journalists and activists to ensure the safety of those who, both inside and outside Cuba, may be subjected to violence, harassment, and repression by Cuban state and governmental bodies due to their outspoken stance of denunciation.

These are the names of the detainees who are being processed: Javier González Fernández, Alexander Díaz Rodríguez, Yurien Rodríguez Ramos, Eduard Bryan Luperon Vega, Eddy Gutiérrez Alonso, Víctor Alejandro Panceira Rodríguez, Yeremin Salcines Janes, José Alberto Pío Torres, Leandro David Morales Ricondo, Luis Giraldo Martínez Sierra, Iván Hernández Troya, Yoslén Domínguez Victores, Yoselín Hernández Rodríguez.

Recommendations:

We continue to urge families to be persistent in reporting these cases, based on the proven fact that making them visible has meant protection. Our political prisoners are not alone. We demand justice.
